How not to submit to God
How not to submit to God! James 4:11-17
Teelepels
There`s at least 2 things you can do to demonstrate that you do not submit to God.
1. Judge others - it helps to know that you are better than them. It allows you to speak evil of them, to call them names, to generalize groups of people. It also means that you may use the law as your own ruler. With it you can measure others, and it goes without saying that they won`t measure up. You yourself don`t need to DO the law, because you are now the judge.
To submit to God would mean that you would have to acknowledge that the Law is actually about Jesus and the fact that He earned the right to be the only Lawgiver, the only true Judge, by dying and rising from the dead. Submission to Him would mean that you know He works by the new law that sets you free (James 2:12). He gave the law so that He could set free and save.
Now, who wants a law that sets people free?! No, law and order and discipline is there to give assurance, to tie things up and make them clear. It helps everyone to know his place, and what will happen if they don`t.
2. Be absolutely self-assured - you have given the first giant step when you appointed yourself judge. Now all you need to do to show that you do not submit to God is to live a live that says "I am a rock, I am an Island." Because I am alive, I will go here, do that for so long, and I will prosper by my efforts. I will speak positively about everything I do. I will give unwonted advice (and not always for free), but take non, least I get dragged down to there level. I`f got it all together. If I will it, it will be so.

Even thou no true believer choose not to submit to God, it is not far from us to act as above. We find comfort in the law in stead of in God alone. We act as if we know it all. We so often miss the wonderful chaos of the law of liberty! Maybe it`s because we seldom test the essence of what we call the Good News in places where people hunger for it. Places where a law that liberates people from worshiping the god of survival, the god of small and pitiful things, is really felt as good because they get to see the King!
Lets rejoice in the fact that we are vulnerable, and boast in the knowledge God is not!
I leave you with the words William Wallace: "FREEEEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!"
